Daniel Alexander Fox was born January 13, 1860, in Highland Township, Vermillion County, Indiana.(1) He was the son of John L. Fox and Susannah Hiligass.(2) Daniel married Elizabeth Jane Ricketts on April 1, 1881, in Fountain County, Indiana.(3) Elizabeth was the daughter of Jacob Ricketts and Melissa Barnard. Elizabeth was born on October 18, 1861, in Vermillion County, Indiana.(4)
Daniel and Elizabeth Fox were the parents of
five children. Kenneth Benjamin Fox was born November 17, 1882, in Gessie, Highland Township,Vermillion County, Indiana. He died September 30, 1971, in Richmond, Indiana. He married Virga Butche in 1900. Virga was born August 4, 1885, and died November 2, 1983, in Salt Lake City, Utah. (5)
Ernest Daniel Fox was born December 1, 1885 near Gessie, Vermillion County, Indiana. He married Lola Frances Jackson on January 8, 1908, in Vermilion County, Illinois. She was born January 1, 1890, and died June 28, 1943. Ernest died October 3, 1940, at Lakeview Hospital in Danville, Illinois. He is buried at Niccum Cemetery in Vermilion County, Illinois. (6)
William Edward Fox was born Jan 5, 1888, and died Apr 16, 1974. He married Marguerite Clem on Feb 10, 1909, in Danville, IL. She was born Mar 9, 1894, in Mound Township, Warren County, IN. She died Jan 27, 1970, at Danville, IL. Her parents were Augustus Elmer Clem and Malinda Lloyd Cunningham. William and Marguerite are both buried at the Lower Mound Cemetery west of Covington, Indiana. (

Ethel Belle Fox was born on October 6, 1892. On February 3, 1917, Ethel Belle Fox married Robert William Gouty. He was the son of Joseph P. Gouty and Luella Marie Hartman. Robert was born August 26, 1889, in Gessie, Vermilion County, Indiana. (8)
Ruby Dale Fox was born December 13, 1896. She died November 12, 1990, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She married Everett Hines on April 10, 1920, in Covington, Indiana. Everett was born July 30, 1894, and died April 5, 1963. Both Everett and Ruby are buried in the Lower Mound Cemetery west of Covington, Indiana. (

Elizabeth Jane (Ricketts) Fox
burned to death on Tuesday, February 28, 1922, when her clothes caught fire from the kitchen stove and she ran onto the back porch and fell upon a bottle of gasoline.(10) Daniel Alexander Fox died July 29, 1932, in Covington, Indiana.(11) Both Daniel and Elizabeth Fox are buried in Hopewell Cemetery west of Covington, Indiana. The will of Daniel Alexander Fox lists the names of all of his children and is recorded in the Vermillion County, Indiana Court House.(12)
Daniel A. Fox is listed in the 1880 Indiana Federal census as age 20, living at home with his parents, John L. Fox and Susannah Fox, in Highland Township, Vermillion County.(
13). Daniel A. Fox is listed in the 1920 Indiana Federal census as age 60, living with his wife, Lizzie J. Fox, and Ruby D. Fox, a daughter.(14) Daniel also is listed in the 1930 Indiana federal census, Vermillion County, Highland, Dist. 18, p. 220, sheet 1A: household of son-in-law Everett Hines. Daniel was listed as age 70, widowed.(15)
