(3) 22 Dec 1724, in Nantucket, Dorcas (Smith) Hawes [widow of Benjamin Hawes], b. 1687, Edgartown, 2 (daughter of Benjamin Smith and Jedidah Mayhew d. 4 Aug 1730, Edgartown [She is buried at Tower Hill.]. John died 1 Feb 1731-2, Edgartown. He was an innkeeper, and in 1713 was appointed Associate Justice of the County Court. His will of 7 dec 1730 was probated 7 Mar 1731-2. [Banks adds that he came to Edgartown about 1700. He is buried at Tower Hill Cemetery.]
